I have recently aquired a +2" lift kit with shocks springs bushes etc. After getting it all home and standing the springs on the floor next to each other I noticed that 2 of the springs are slightly shorter than the other 2. The kit is pre used with no instructions and I dont know if its longer springs at the back or front?? Any ideas from people who have done this?

mite be a silly question, but y are the thicker ones at the back? when there is more weight on the front?? apart from towing.

Dunno but when i last ordered some they arked if i had a winch fitted, maybe the longer ones are to make up for the weight of it.

My Heavy duty springs are shorter at the rear, but thicker.

Standard Disco springs are the same .. long at the front, shorter but thicker at the rear.

Don't fret too much about the springs being different.

Part of the difference may be that the springs could be fitted futher "in" from the centre-line of the tyres, and have different "leverage" applied to them.

Mostly though it's because the weight on the front axle of the car is pretty constant no matter what load is in the back on or the draw-bar, whereas the back springs have to be able to handle quite large variations in loading, between running light with no trailer, and fully loaded in the back plus a heavy trailer.
