Driving into work this morning, just got outside the office at the lights, into first and the clutch went ping and the clutch pedal dropped to the floor. Luckily managed to get it going and limp into the car park less than 10 seconds away.

Question I have is has anyone else had this problem. Will get a torch in a few minutes, and have a closer look. Way I see it is will be cheap and quick, or a garage job and another mortgage, sadly the haynes manual is not helpful here...

Freelander yr 2000 - Diesel.

is it working now ,check fluid level ,check connection of cylinder to car and pedal ,check slave cylinder still attached properly to gear box side

I agree with James, if you heard ping inside cab then it's prob the plastic clip on your clutch pedal that's cone off your master cylinder..if ping heard in engine bay then it may be your slave cyl bracket...they are the best case scenarios though :)

Thanks all,

Luckily with the assistance of the RAVE CD, its the clip which pinged off. the car is in a underground carpark so visibility is crap and only have a tiny maglite. One thing I can share is there is no loss of fluid outside the car.
