An Aussie saying Hi

Hi all Great to be here! I've only just looked around for a little while, and am already impressed by the number of topics covered!

Having spent the last two years in a Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD (which I have to admit was a wonderful vehicle) and a couple of mid-90's Nissan Patrol GQ's, my wife Jenny and I have decided to go back to a "real" 4WD. We still also have two Saab Turbo's, so along with the new addition our yard is now officially FULL :?

Today we picked up a '00 Defender TD5 with all the accessories under the sun fitted already.... and I mean ALL It's really well fitted out for remote outback travel - all except for an long-distance HF radio - which we have an Iridium sat phone for anyways....





The list of accessories we've come across so far on this purchase:

Land Rover bull bar
IPF driving lights
Safari snorkel
Graeme Cooper front wing checkerplate
Graeme Cooper spare wheel carrier

Now - just need a hand winch and we're away. Either that or I'll put the Warn 8274 high-mount from one of our Patrols on it.





This is my internal setup. The drawers are all steel - (drawer & frame) cut & folded by a cnc-controlled system. It rides on four roller bearing drawer runners. Sitting in front of the drawer behind the cargo barrier and under the drawer's top deck is an 80-litre stainless water tank designed by a good mate of mine and built by Out of Town 4WD in Newcastle NSW. It's filled via an in/outlet through the left side rear window. The tap is mounted to the rear bumper. On top of the drawers is a steel shelving system which takes plastic boxes on the left (built to accommodate the boxes without bouncing around). In the middle is a fridge slide for the trusty Engel or EvaKool. To the right is an area for larger space cases or jerries. It's all pretty solid.



Anyway - enough about me.

Never considered eating the 'fender,but maybe the rubber bits are OK if boiled first.

I have recently purchased a discovery 1995 tdi300 and am running on 100%
vegi oil when my filter isnt clogged. so I also have decided to join the landyzone. I agree that it is well put together and usfull as I have been helped by the other members with a problem I had. I am in springwood
in the blue mountains.

Hey there Kevin

If you're in Springwood - we should hook up for a run sometime. I know it's been done to death, but I go up to Newnes quite often - it's still a favourite 4WD destination of mine.

I'll be trying the B100 fairly soon. There's a new biodiesel outlet on the corner of Marrickville & Sydney Roads which is on my way home. I'd like to think that I was helping clear the skies a bit by using it.

LOL! ... in our case over here it's the "houso's" that you have to watch. I have a sign out front of the tent stating "this tent is not part of your local project".
