L322 Amplifier draining battery

After many many months of my battery draining within 2 days I have found out that the culprit was the stereo amplifier in the boot, since disconnecting it my battery doesn't drain anymore so I was wondering if anyone knows if the amp can be refurbished and where would be best to get it done as I don't want to shell out over £200 on a second hand one for it to do the same

So fitting a replacement will not fix the problem for long, just until the next heavy rain

Have you looked for corrosion in the connector?. There is a small chance that opening up the unit, drying it out and cleaning off any corrosion may resurrect the unit.

Yeh there is corrosion on the connectors but i can't clean them properly as i can only get one of the circuit boards out of the unit, it's well dried out now as I've had it out of the car for a couple of weeks

Any corrosion will cause leakage between the pins in the connectors.

How would you suggest would be best for getting them clean, i don't want to damage anything

Contact cleaner such as Aeroclene 50, brushes, sharp implements etc. Any trace of green corrosion and it's not going to work.

So I've had the amplifier out and given it a clean but there are bits of it i can't get to to clean so i'm having to put in a relay to cut the power when the car is off so am after a bit of electrical knowledge.

Which wires do i need to use? I know i have to use the main power feed from the battery that's no problem but which wire do i need to use to have the power cut when i turn the car off? would it be the radio on signal wire?

This is driving me round the bend now so any help would be great.

It would be better to fix the problem, doing what you want to do is asking for trouble.

Yes I understand that, I know what the problem is and i'm not prepared to pay over 200 quid to fix it adding a relay will sort it for me in the short term, My RR isnt a hybrid and i have to plug it in every day to keep the battery charged

But you do not know what other problems will be caused by the leakage of current through corroded parts. You may end up with an even more expensive problem, you can't run these cars for peanuts.
