The alternator has been a bit iffy on my 109 for quite a while, sometimes the charge light would come on whilst driving along then go off again. I ignored this cos that's the kind of person I am but I did buy a new beefier alternator in readiness for when it totally failed. Well, it's totally failed, so out I go with the shiney new alternator and a 1/2 inch spanner. What a complete barstuard. How the heck do you get at the lower front bolt? Don't say I've got to take the rad shroud off cos every screw is rusted and chewed. I was struggling for about 4 hours yesterday and the front bolt is still in place. A garage could have whipped the engine out, done the job and replaced the engine by now. It's times li,e this that I consider selling it or setting fire to it.
