alternator

got a slight problem with my 1992 200 tdi, alternator light blinks on and off under normal conditions but still charges at 13.9 volts, with all lights on light is on bright all time but still charging, i have been told that the rectifier is on its way out, question is , i have a couple of the early alternator's from the series but they have different connections, would one of these do the job if the connections can be sorted

Alternators an alternator, if you can make it fit then it will charge


However, remember that the series ones are no where near as powerful

I have similar trouble with my 3.5, but iirc it's the same alternator as a 200tdi

In fact ive just fitted a new Lucas unit, 40 quid from euro car parts!! (I am trade though)

However my old one often used to put the charge light on although there was still juice coming out of it.

Do yourself a favour mate and just fit a new one, with the winter coming it'll only be a pita and the series ones are not that clever.

eBay the series ones and get yourself a fresh'un!
