ive had a look through some posts but cant find the answer :-(

So, ive just got a replacement alternator for my `89 land rover 90 but it has a 200tdi from a disco.

The original alternator was a a127 65 and the one i have is a perkins 2871a1 65.

So my problem is that the old alt has only got the screw type connections i.e. an eyelet over a screw, whereas the new alternator had two screws one with a B+ next to it (im guessing battery positive) and one with a W next to it (rev counter?) It also has three spade connectors - two large ones and one smaller one.

So what do i use and which wire goes where?

Cheers guys

Ok so i have now worked it out, all except for one wire. This wire is yellow and appears to come initially from the dashboard area, however it is not the dash light as the wire connects to a small black box, connected to the wing, which then feeds to both the wire and also to the electric fan for the radiator - it appears to be the positive for the radiator fan.

Is this wire just an earth? i an confused as looking at the busters bus picture the alternator only has three wires..

Cheers

At a guess someones taken the fan + feed for the relay ( small black box on wing ) from the alternator

What pin number does that wire go to on the black box ( Relay ) - look where the wires go to and you'll see small numbers next to the connectors .
