Alternator water problem

Hi all, I have a 200TDI disco....I have an issue which I think is pretty standard which is the charge light coming on when I go through a decent size puddle....obviously water making the belt slip.....it goes away after

I was wondering if there is an upgrade or a way to stop this happening so much....it does it with big puddles let alone wading....

I believe the 300TDI doesn't do this due to a better belt

Hi yes just tightened it up, my mates 200tdi does the same.....just wondered if it was something that could be improved.....cheers

I would have thought the 300 would be worst as the alternator sits a bit lower?

my 200 does the same though..

yup mine too , i watch for the light to come on as i go thru the puddle , then a short squeal from the belt(unless the light stays on & then its from me)

I had the same problem, sorted it by using gates belts.

can you remember the part code for the correct belt ?

where did you get yours from ? - I've just phoned these peeps and a dappy bird told me she can't find them on their system

Gates Industrial Drive Belts : from Beeline

Got them from the local motor factors, there is other numbers on them WR/LA3 WXP104001 small Y/FB108 SYP164535 large .

pic , more numbers, small AVX10 X 613LA Large AVX13 X 1025LA, these numbers are on the packet , not the sticker which may be the motor factors.
