Alternator light glows slightly and dims as revs increase. Also light stays on after starting. Give a rev and she goes out.
Question: Is the regulator stuffed or do I need to have the unit recoed?
Any suggestions. Thanks.

Assuming fan belt not slipping, then sounds like the alternator diode is on the way out.

Don't know if you can recon yourself (sure others will) or whether it's a swap out

sounds like maybe the didoes are on there way out, or maybe the rectifier best check with a multimeter. I have had an alternator pumping out just over 14volts but the warnign light still glowed. It was a fault diode i just replaced with a OE alternator for about £100

Mine has that second symptom of staying on sometimes after starting until i increase the revs slightly. But once the revs increase it goes out and stays out even if the revs drop back down. I don't think it's causing me any problems.

It doesn't glow otherwise though.

Mine also.

Bin doing it since I got her, no problems with the battery yet.

As soon as I give her a rev, light goes out and stays out.............

I t is normall to have to give a diesel a slight rev to get the warnign light out. All it is doing is exciting the alternator and making it produce its on electricity instead of drawing from the battery
