Good Morning happy Christmas i hope everyone has a good day.
My Names Rob, proud owner of Hank The Tank my 1971 series 3 109 station wagon/estate/5 door running a 2.5 turbo deisel. I know its not the best engine but was in the tank when i got him and it works! pictures will follow.

Straight in there asking for help advise.

The altonator is broken. Out put check and its general state of condition say its time to replace it. The question is as this is an early 90 alternator to the best of my knowlege, and has rated out put that is rather poor. Basically i can rebuild an alternator but was after suggestions of a decent rated one that will work well for hank. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

many thanks and Happy Christmas again.

Rob.

Depends upon your electrical load & accessories, standard series Lucas 16ACR is 35-45A I think.
if you require 65A then one from a 200TDI may be an upgrade option, should fit if body rotated (see Glencoyne's ) altho the electrical alternator connections are different from the plug it can be modified by crimping/soldering on 3 suitable eyelets to suit.

if you want more amps go 17acr or18acr lucas will all fit , and they are same wiring pattern HTSH they were fitted to a lot of series , and also austin /leyland rover etc
