Alternater problem

ive had to wire in my alt due to me fitting a v8 engine ive wires it to how the diagram shows but even with the key out the batt light is always on.

Any thorghts

With the ign on the light is on , with eng running is light out?

yes the light goes out but with the engin off and the key out ie all switch off the light is still on!
