On the back of the Landy Alt there are 3 spades, top and middle are large ones, lower one is the small spade..

I take it the small one is for dash light, but which of the large ones goes to the battery??

And will it run and charge Ok using just the 2 wires??

Daihatsu Alt and reg are shot, so having to modify brackets to fit Landy Alt, just in case any one interested.....

usually the two big uns are connected inside the alt so yer only need use one which goes to the batt.

on some, you need to use another wire to excite the alt to get it working, ah think its just very old alts that use that system.

Both Big connectors go to the battery, I think it's a way of reducing the resistance by using two wires.

Right, after much cursing and swearing, not too mention angle griding and welding, the LR Alt is now fitted to the 2.8 Daihatsu lump..........and charging + plus the dash light works as it should.

BUT!!

Now the engine wont turn off with the key, it seems the engine is live, BUT when i pull the wire of the inj pump solenoid then it will cut out, have tested this wire with the ignition off and no current, so what is happening and how do i cure it?????

have yer checked it wiff injun running

Yes mate, ignition on, charge light on, start engine charge light goes out, charge going into battery 14 - 14.6 volts when running. All as it should be.

Wire to fuel solenoid comes live when ignition is on, and goes dead when ignition goes off.... But for some reason the engine does not cut out unless I pull the dead wire from the solenoid... Curious to say the least...

On back of Alt there is another terminal on the far side to the 2 big (Direct to Batt) and 1 small terminal (Charge light) This other term is marked (I think ) B+ what is this one for?

Have to add if I disconnect Alt wiring, engine starts and stops as it should, suggegts an earth problem to me, but Im stumped...

Just a thought but is there supposed to be a wire from a starter solenoid to Alt, could that be part of the problem?

?

if yer solenoid int disengaging till yer pull the wire orf then it must still be live because a wire wiff no power wont make any difference if its on or orf.

is yer alt a lucas acr or some other type/make

i would try it without yer warning light connected (take the bulb out?) and see what it does first as the charging wire goes straight to yer batt its unlkely to be the problem
