Altanator Brand - Does it matter. Disco 2

Hi,

I'm looking at replacing the alternator in my 2000 Disco TD5, I am seeing a few different brands that vary in price. Obviously I would rather save the money if I can but do not want to compromise on quality....does the brand really matter or am I just paying for a name??

I bought a cheap one, lasted about 6 months n died so bought a genuine one.

Cheap ones are usually cheap for a reason but as with all things some may last for years and others not.
