Hi davylat. I took my wife on two weeks camping around France, Italy Sept 2015. We went in my Defender 200TDI CSW. 144,000 on the clock. We went from Calais across to the Swiss border , Then over the Simplon pass into Italy. Stayed 3 nights on Lake Como, Italy We stayed at camping Continental. it wasnt the best camping but it was close to the train station and 7 euros and your in Milan. Wife loved it. We did try to get into Camping Spiaggia. It is lush, right on the beach. It has great reviews. You need to book early. it was full hence we stayed at Camping Continental just up the road. We stayed in Como one night in a small hotel. Id thoroughly recommend it.

My wife has never been camping and she got on well. Definitely get a decent airbed /matress. It makes a load of difference if your getting a good nights sleep.

In total we did 2500 miles. Yes, we had one breakdown. We broke our front prop shaft whilst on the motorway in France 60 miles from Calais on the way home. We got towed off by the recovery company. We used RAC European cover. ADAC is meant to be very good. it German but gives great cover. I'll probably use it next time. Just went with RAC as it was easy on my insurance cover.

Get out and explore, that's what our Landys are for. I'm fancying Morocco and North Cape next year but who knows where I'll end up.

Starting in Salzburg, my girl friend would like to do the "sound of music tour"..... Then onto Verona. Probably Bormio as well. Just touring around taking in the mountains and enjoying the good food. Any tips on which campsites to use? Sorry its a bit vague, I don't really like planning a route, just enjoy winging it.
do the Germans chase you also
