i recently bought a 2000 vogue with an aftermarket kenwood stereo fitted. big mistake, it looked ridiculous. i was sent the origional alpine type radio by a freind in america, who said it would work fine.
sure enough, i fitted it and everything works, apart fron the front speakers, and it wont tune into staions on even number frequencies, i.e. 102.0, 102.2 etc. it will ony tune to stations with odd numbers, i.e. 101.9, 102.1 etc. is this because its american spec? and do you think the speakers are a radio problem, speaker problem, wiring problem or amp problem?
any advice welcomed. thanks in advance guys.

I'm sure the tuning is due to american spec. What type of HU are you after?? I have a RR HK, tape, radio, cd compatible that I am using in my garage for a radio - and it accepts UK stations!!

Regards,

Steve

US Spec Alpines only tune with odd numbers after the decimal as that's FCC radio standard spec. I've had a couple of US market radios and that seems pretty standard. AM radios go up in 10s instead of 9's as well, so you can't get many stations on AM over here either. Talk sport is 1 out.

I dont know about the speaker problems because i got an alpine head unit fitted to mine and they work fine. The head unit that was in it before had a sat nav system built into it (not the one with the screen but the one with just the arrows on the head unit itself) there where two antenna cables going to the head unit, one for the sat nav and one for the normal radio, we connected the sat nav one to the alpine unit by mistake and the radio reception was pathetic, but after looking closer behind the dash we located a second antenna lead for the normal radio antenna, we plugged that in and it works fine now. May have been just mine but check to make sure there isnt two antenna leads because the vehicle may have had a Land Rover Sat Nav head unit in it before the Kenwood was fitted.
