Alpine ilx-700 in a Freelander 2?

Hi,
Has anyone tried to fit the alpine ilx-700 into a freelander 2 and connecting it to the aux on the original radio?

That's a head unit. How are you going to fit an extra head unit? If you're going to connect something into the AUX input, why not just plug you device into that directly? Or just listen to CDs and radio.

Because today I have a parrot asteroid smart installed in that compartment like this. https://goo.gl/images/pyzKKD
I want to replace it with a CarPlay unit.

If it's already got a pretty good double din HU in there, then it should be possible. Presumably any CAN bus or MOST modifications have already been made.

Hi,
Yea. I hooked it up to the aux on the original stereo. Put a reverse camera and changed a cigarette plug for a usb input to hook up the iphone. Adapter for the antenna so I can use both the original and alpine fm radio. You have to build your own housing for the alpine.
