Ally block coolant

Hello. Has anyone on here ever run a rover v8 engine? It has an alloy block so I need the right coolant. It has to be old school ethylene glycol but with additive for use with alloy block protection. I need the brand and the number on the tin if anyone knows coz I'm going round in circles on the Internet!! Cheers

I just used regular red antifreeze in mine.
Probably got it from Mill Autos, in a 20litre drum. But any motor factor would sell it.

If you have blue antifreeze already, better use that instead.

They all have anti-corrosion additives, alloy components have been around for years.

My old 3.5 RR used Land Rovers green antifreeze for the 10 years I owned it, it was serviced by my main dealer so they replaced it as necessary… every 3 years believe.

With my 3.9 disco from the first 5 years it used the green antifreeze and then I took over the servicing, so now for the last 21 years it has OAT red antifreeze, although it can an be found other colours, the replacement of the stuff every 5 years sold it for me.

As for old school ethylene glycol antifreeze this is use in 47 year old car l own ad it has an iron block changed every 2 or 3 year or when remember.

My 3.5 V8 runs fine on the red OAT although on previous V8s I used the green/blue ethylene glycol. The OAT lasts longer and seems to control temps better.

I've read that you cannot mix the two so if changing type you must completely flush the engine first; apparently they can react and form a gel in the rad and waterways.

I used to run rotary engines in Mazdas and always used waterless coolant as the housings were ally and common for breaking down the ally into the water ways due to incorrect coolant
