Alisport full size Intercooler - Alternative?

Hi All:

I am looking to buy an Alisport full size Intercooler, but they are expensive at £440. Are they really as good as they say they are? Is there an Alternative? I am afraid to buy on the bay cause I heard some of them are cheap and glued together. There must be some UK guy selling quality ones cheaper.

Any help much appreciated.

Apparently the Britpart ones a rebranded Sercks at a lower price, had one in mine for the past year (4,000miles or so) and its been perfect.

Are they good and worth it? Yes, no, maybe. All depends what you are expecting and what other mods you'll be doing.

If you are tweaking the fuelling and maybe the turbo, or doing other bigger mods. Then yes, they are certainly worth it. But tbh, as a straight bolt on, no they probably aren't worth £440 just for the IC.

I bought a full size intercooler for my Disco 200Tdi from them years ago. I paid £400 cash for the intercooler, fitting and tuning and a loan car for a couple of hours.

That was going from a 100% standard Tdi.

But tbh, you'll get 85-90% of the seat of the pants gains, just by tweaking the injector pump yourself at home.

The big IC only really comes into play if you are wanting to maximise this gain. But you are at the point of diminishing returns.

Thanks, and yes I have someone (who knows what they are doing) tweaking the pump. I was just looking for more flexibility for him. I will look into that Sercks. Thanks for the advice.
