So, I decided to replace my knackered gearbox mounts. Undid the lil nut and the thing fell off in a couple bits. Yes, it was totally knackered.

I then undid the mounting plate on the box and stuck the new rubber mount on. Spent the next 20 mins cursing as I couldn't get all the brackets to align up on the mounting plate with only a few cm clearance from the exhaust.

Finally all done, I lowered the gearbox and ahh.. it's 1cm out. I've tried pushing, prodding, shouting and spitting. Is it a case of scaffold pole and heaving the thing into place or is there an easier way?

Don't fasten the mounting bracket just screw in the bush whilst ensuring the other end is through the hole in the mounting bracket. Once hand tight jack the box up enough to line up the mounting bracket holes. Then put the bolts in (one usually has an earthing strap on) and tighten. Finally remove the jack.

Finally got around to it today. Loosening off the chassis mounts and gearbox mounts was the ticket. Gave me enough room to get all the bolts in and then I could tighten it all up. :D
