aldi have an offer on Thursday for a compressor and various bits of kit (you can see it on the website under special buys). As I have plans to repaint the body of the landy, clean and paint the chassis and so on I was wondering if this would be a good buy? Never used a spray gun before and no experience of the kit used. I am willing to learn and the landys rough anyway but does anyone know if this kit would be suitable? Would I need the regulator and lubricator thats available with it?

Just had a look at the compressor, doesn't look too bad. It would probably be suitable for some light work like spraying. Don't expect the best quality finish if you go with their air tools but it would probably do the job just fine.

When you buy a spray gun they should tell you the compressor requirements, you dont need huge pressure for a spray gun,but you do need some and it's a pita waiting for the compressor to build up enough pressure,it's a case of, spray for a few minutes wait for the pressure to build up, spray again,wait.....etc.

I can't comment too much on the air compressor, but their kit generally tends to be not too bad. It's worth signing up to their emails to keep an eye out for useful stuff coming up. Most tools come with 3 year warranty too!

i got a similar one few years back from netto tooltec. these are ideal for a home user. no good for my impact wrench as it emptys the tank to quick but great for cleaning, dustin, tyres, ratchet and my paint gun. for the money i would go for it pratice makes perfect

I thought that it might be worth a go. Even if its just for blasting and then painting the chassis it makes sense. I hate those hours with the wire brush!

Was looking at it , doesnt appear to be that great a deal, you can pick up a 50 litre at costco with the basic tool kit for 130 with 8.5cfm, interestingly none of them quote the free air delivery.

Aldi one has 6mm hoses and euro connectors so can be a pain to buy new tools.

if your thinking of sand blasting you will need a much bigger compressor I have a 3hp 50 litre sealy compressor and that struggles when sand blasting but ok for air tools

on ebay , wolf 3 hp Vtwin motor compressor - looks impressive , its about 189 quid and that is where my money would be going, and if it struggled id hook it to an external tank of bigger volume.

those spot blasters like the aldi one are a waste of time for your chassis really , fine for cleaning up rusty stone chips or the like.
