Hi,
I have a NAS 1973 Series 3 88 Station Waggon in Airdrie Alberta. Not fast enough for the Highway but ideal around town and on the back roads. Occasional rattle from the back of the cam shaft when under load (any ideas?) but goes well with recon box, head, new hydraulics throughout with DOT 5 fluid, tank, brakes, clutch, defender seats, hoses, wiper motor and jets, weber carb (runs a bit rich 3500 ft altitude) all from Rover Park Boys and Craddocks (brilliant mail order service to Canada).
I would like a TDI Defender but you need a second mortgage to get one here and it has to be 15 years old to import one.

Hi Elten11, welcome to the forum and I see you are in Airdrie. Me and the wife flew to Calgary last year and went up to Airdrie to pick up an RV from Fraserway and spent 3 weeks touring BC and Alberta in a 33 foot winnebago with a V10 petrol engine. Great holiday, beautiful country and friendly people and a great place for a 4x4. The series lll is gonna be a challenge trying to keep up with big V8s and it'll be cold and draughty in your winters, sounds like you'll be having fun with it. I think I would drop a bigger engine in and put parabolic springs on for a better ride and then upgrade to disc brakes for better stopping power, anyway all the best and I'm looking forward to seeing some photos when you get it sorted.
