After so many years wanting a defender, I have finally taken the step of buying one. I'm due to collect it next weekend a 2008 90 Defender. its going to be kept on the street and one thing that worries me is security as I've always heard they are particularly prone to being stolen??

Any tips that I should do regarding protecting my defender from theft e.g immobilisers, tracking and wheel locks etc?

Any recommendations would be appreciated
Andy

Welcome. You are right to be cautious and is first thing I did. You want a minimum of a cat 1 and I’d get one with a lift sensor I.e. it goes mental if someone lifts the front to drag it away.
sandwich it between two cars, lock your wheels against kerb so it can’t be dragged in straight line and look into additional measures.
Most likely thing of that reg would be someone pinching the bonnet I expect so perhaps get security hinges. Google Land Rover security and there’s a really good online shop.
Don’t let the worry stop you enjoying it though! We love our cars but they’re metal, not flesh n blood. Better to have one and lose it rather than never having it eh!
Try a Doberman too - that puts people off coming near mine lol

I just hope op is looking at an xs if he’s buying one that new! after 300 miles in mine today with no aircon I think I’d be more tempted by a range and a ‘****ing expensive repair kitty’ on the side :D
