Alarm problems 1996 Disco solved?

I have had the usual problems with the alarm on my 1996 V8i. I thank all on here for their past posts. I thought I would share my experiences. It started with the vehicle not starting. The posts pointed to the spider unit and fitiing the bypass solved this. The alarm was sounding at odd times for no apparent reason. Following the suggested fixes I disconnected the internal sensor - made no difference. I then cleaned all the door switches - again made no difference. Finally I disconnected the bonnet switch. I do not use the vehicle very often and it stood quietly for two weeks. As we say in Cornwall, job done. Until yesterday when for no apparent reason off it went again. I am seriously thinking about the Government scrappage scheme. I live in a rural area and the vehicle is parked off the road. Does any one have any idea what could be setting off the alarm - it's nothing external.:doh:

Low battery power? You say you don't use it often, so if it drops to a certain amount the alarm may go off for that reason, does on my bike anyway.

It's on a trickle charger, otherwise good idea.
