1997 Discovery SE7

The alarm went off for no reason one night, I didn't think anything of it.

In the 2-3 weeks that followed, I noticed that the hazard lights no longer flashed, indicating that the car was locked/unlocked.

Sometime in those 2-3 weeks, the doors stopped locking altogether - but the alarm would still sound when a door was opened.

I'm presently looking in the Hayne's manual and it's talking about a control unit, allegedly beneath the passenger side of the facia. I can't find it. Anyone know where else it might be?

I'd like to take this control unit off the SD7 and put it on the SE7 to see if it solves the problem-

Hey Bud -

I have a 2001 Disco with a problem that started in much the same way as yours - alarms sounding and intermittant faults.

The end result now is that i have no remote central locking, its been into Landrover but as usual that was pointless, so i have had a proper auto sparky have a look & my sensor has gone, which i think is the same thing you describe, the location may have changed but ill tell u where mine is, maybe yours is the same?

Basically its in the roof lining towards the rear of the car, luckily i have 2 sunroofs, & its just in front of the back one, so you can pull the lining down from there. If not i guess you will have to look right at the back.

I have been trying to get mine fixed locally to reduce cost, i can purchase and fit the sensor easily, but it seems i will need to bite the bullet and go to the main dealer to get the keys re programed to the new sensor!

Not sure if any of that helped, but i noticed we both had similar faults and a very similar lack of replies to our threads!

Cheers.
