Aircon, where to start?

Hi Guys,
On these wet days, getting in the car results in the windows on the inside misting over.
I don't have heat to the Drivers side, just cool so I am thinking blend motor, but why isn't my aircon clearing the moisture?
The system needs a recharge so will it just be that? Or is some vent blocked?

If there is no gas in the aircon system, how do you expect it to work?
The other problem will be blend motors.

I thought the gas was there to cool the air. I believed there was a drier to dry it. Obviously the gas is the only component in the whole system.

The gas serves two puropses, firstly when the system is recharged oil is added to lubricated various parts, the gas helps this circulate.

Secondly, the cooling and dehumidfying effect are caused by a difference in pressure, one part of the system is at a higher pressure than the other.

Then you have the evapourator, dryier, condensor (basically a mini radiator in front of your main rad) and clutch (where the serpentine belt goes around).

If there is no gas the drier will not work. The air is dried by passing it over a cooling element that removes moisture from it by causing the moisture to condensate, the resulting water then runs out of the drains. Just the same as a dehumidifier.

If the screen is misting up with cool air, check the carpet isn't wet by the drivers feet.
When my O rings were leaking causing the carpet to get damp, turning the fan on only helped to mist things up.

Thank you to all explaining how the Gas is actually responsible for the efficient running of the whole system. Not knowing how the system worked (which is why I posted the question) I thought maybe the drier was mechanically or electrically driven somehow as the system runs all the time unless you switch it off. I'll get the gas done ASAP.

As to the las post, yes my drivers footwell is wet and I have the replacement o rings but was waiting until I sourced a blend motor for a 2000 Thor engine before taking the dash off.

The blend motors are the same on all models of the P38 as far as I know.
Always use the aircon as it will keep the interior and the electronics dry when it works.
Loss of the aircon gas is often due to a leaky condensor, the big alloy RAD in front of the cooling RAD.

Check the "how to" section, you don't have to remove the dash
