I found a thread on another forum, about an airbag going off while off the car, someone also posted a Youtube link to show how dangerous they are, here it is, [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1S1CZ08w4H4&feature=player_embedded]Airbag prank gone horribly wrong - YouTube[/ame]

Mind boggling to think most of us drive with something so potentially dangerous in our cars every day.:eek::eek:

yes airbags can be dangerous, but then so is faceplanting into the steering wheel if you have a crash.
devices such as seatbelts can cause injuries but these are tiny when compared to the injuries they prevent, the problem is that few of us really understand the statistical models used when comparing the injuries caused by devices like airbags, seatbelts or whatever against the injuries they prevent.
just remember, you are more likely to walk away from a major accident now than 30 years ago before airbags, seatbelts etc were standard fit/obligatory wear.

i have set an airbag off under a scrap citroen saxo and it lifted the back off the car off the ground! something tells me he wont be doing that again! :D

I have no problem at all with airbags, I've had two accident's one in which I wrote off a Discovery where the airbags probably did save my face/head/life
But how dangerous they can be when you think they should be safe. Not to be messed around with like in the video.;)

Thats why most new cars have it set so the airbag system is not active if the seat belt is not plugged in. They can kill easy if you to close when they go off and most people end up with cuts or bruising when they hit them with enough force. Not to mention almost loosing their hearing at the same time. We have to set them off at work once they reach the end of the period they need to be held for warranty reasons.

After last years accident, my mother who had been sat in the front passenger seat, was covered in bruises, and not just where the seat belt passed over and round her.
