Hi, I was fixing passengers blend motor and had airbag out, everything was connected and I've had it in several times with no issue but now I have airbag fault and pulsing SRS light, when it was put in it pulled the blue cable out the red plug, its since been refitted but does the light remain until fault is cleared or does this mean I've still a problem 1996 2.5 dse

You need to clear the fault. If the light comes back after that, you have a problem somewhere in the system, hopefully not.

Yeah I've been reading it appears pre 1999 doesn't do it itself and mines 1996 so most likely it will need cleared, I wish I left blend motor till after MOT now or stopped trying to be cleaver leaving it connected

My mate in another garage says he has latest Bosch fault code reader and is adamant it will read SRS codes, is this correct because if so he will clear codes free

I was once told that when car makers first introduced airbags and the SRS system, the designers weren't sure if the explosive charge would degrade with time so they programmed the system to show a fault after 100-150k miles forcing owners to get the system checked. Apparently, this is no longer the case in newer cars.

as a pre 1999 model you will need a diagnostic tool to turn off the fault it has come on as you have broken the circuit so you need the tell the SRS module that the circuit is complete
hope this helps

thats good then I was chasing a SRS fault on my 2000 diesel for weeks found it was the connector on the steering wheel coupler was off

Mine really was stupity I left everything connected while working/check blend motor to see it work and I had airbag in few times no issue then I must have snagged cable and pulled one out, I knew it was nothing else because never had any issues before

easily done though bud
got a land-rover restoration place near me so thier diagnosis machine said it was on driver side so narrowed it down more
at least you got it off

For future reference, the SRS Module is fed by fuses F7 & F23. If you remove these two before doing anything behind the dash, the SRS system will not register faults. Then after re-connecting everything & ignition OFF, put the fuses back in. Hopefully all should be good.
