Got an X reg Disc which seems to have dropped in ride height recently as the tow bar now grounds on a couple of areas where it didn't before. Id I press the height increase on the dash all I get is the warning light and three chimes,- there doesn't appear to be any rise. Anyone got any thoughts on how I can diagnose the problem?

Air bag test is to spray soapy water with a trigger spray.

Compressor:

if working correctly...

the height should raise by about 30mm under normal driving and drop by about 30mm when you park up and get out.

When it drops you should hear the hiss and see it drop.

The compressor is under the chassis under the passenger seat. Close all the doors and boot, open the drivers window, turn on the engine... then legg it around to listen in the area for the compressor kicking it. you should also see the car lift.

If it does not do this... suspect the compressor. even if one of your air bags is slightly leaking

Not always the compressor, more likely to be the ride height sensors, the little cranked arms and small square box attached between the chassis and the rear trailing arms !!

Be very careful if you 'tinker' or change components though, you should have it checked out by a main stealer (or someone with testbook) to check/re-calibrate

Or . . . . the compressor can pump, and keep pumping which = exploding rear air springs = lots of £'s
