This will be an easy question for someone out there to answer, hopefully.

When I first start the engine on my Td5 in a morning, the rear end lifts by about 1 inch to 2 inches. I realise that the air suspension is doing what it is supposed to do, but should it sit down by that much overnight, or have I got some kind of an air leak. It only takes 2 seconds from starting up to rising the 1 or 2 inches................

Phil*

once you switch off, get out and close the door you should hear the air rushing out of the suspension and you will visibly see it settle... this is normal

Oh God .... my TD5 Disco doesn't do this .... it just sits there all night.

Is it buggered?

Hey CharlesY... I learned alot about air suspension over the last few weeks!

going down is ok... it's when it over inflates and explodes you worry!

Maybe you're a bit light :D

When running/driving, the car needs to add a bit of air to keep it all level especially with passengers/weight etc. When you switch off, get out and stopp bouncing around in it, it hisses for a few secs and drops an inch or so to return to a true 'sitting' height. Sometimes, if a few mins after ignition off, you take a load out of the boot or off the back seats for example, you'll see it do it again as it all settles down.

Don't you see any of this

Thanks chaps,

Yes it settles when you lock and leave it. Tested it this morning, and measured how much it lifts on restarting, about 1 inch. So by the replies,, all is well.

Thanks again.

Tell me this .... I suspect mine can try to self level even when parked with one side lower than the other - or is this my imagination?

Taking the caravan to Liverpool tomorrow ... washed the Disco!
Shovelled the gravel out off the mats, and then used a HOOVER on it!
Choked the hoover bag. But by the time she finds out I will be 200 miles away ...
