Hi to the group. Have owned my 2004 TD5 for a few years. Spent a small fortune with bits and bobs as you do. Mine has developed a fault with the air suspension on the rear. Some days the bags go down on the back, once started they inflate and stay up. I have had both airbags changed and pipelines checked for leaks but all is sound. Any clues as to what it may be. Many thanks

Yes....pop over and introduce your self to the forum im off to make a cup of tea by candle light, power cut and im in se london hardly the sticks.
Come back and il tell you

Sorry that took a bit longer went for a drive in the snow while waiting for the electric to come back on.

Its a simple system x2 height sensors x2 air bags x1 valve block x1 pump.
You say both air bags change for new ones ?? Your symptoms sound like leaky bags or air leak for sure.

You can easily strip the pump down water can get in via the air intake mine had a bit in and vented all its air from the emergency valve.
The valve block is very simple you can strip it down give the o rings a clean and use plumbers silicon grease on them.
Get some plumber leak detector spray and give everything a good squirt.
Good luck

When you start the car and it raises the suspension can you hear the compressor stop when it gets to correct height or is it running constantly? Are there any lights on the dash to indicate a problem?

Mine often drops a bit (maybe an inch at most) at the rear when I get out I think that’s normal (I may be wrong). Does it drop right down to the bump stops?

Thanks for the reply. The rear airbags go down to the stops when it happens. I start up press the button on the dash and it inflates ok..sometimes they stay up for days, other times they go down as soon as engine switched off. I have no warning signs on dashboard.. I’m not mechanical at all lol so was wondering if the compressor is sticking as it’s so inconsistent. Cheers for getting back to me. Steve

Its normal for the suspension to lower an inch or so when you switch off as is it raising on start up. You should not need to press the dash button that sets it to off road height when you drive it should lower to normal height once you reach 30mph.

There's definitely something not right if it's dropping down to the bump stops. As above leak detector spray or even soapy water may help find the leak
