Hi guys so after a 550 mike trip all perfect got in the disco today to go food shopping and noticed compressor running at every trafic light, but not constant when driving on way home found something felt strange and steering had altered from almost bang on to 10 o clock to go straight anyway got home and noticed rear passenger side was well up in air and drivers side looked normal, pressing the lift button in car didn’t do anything and didn’t get the high side to drop down, so Im I right in thinking ride hight sensor on rear passenger side has failed? Air system holds pressure as I unscrewed one pipe from valve block to drop pressure in the overinflated bag. Cheers guys.

Sounds like a height sensor issue. You could try a re calibration, but you will probably need to replace it and then re calibrate. Do you have a diagnostic tool that will do this? If not have a look at the Foxwell NT530 with the Jag Land Rover software. At around £140 it will almost pay for itself on this job alone.

No access to diagnostics yet, keep meaning to get one but each time I get a spare £3-400 something else crops up. Does the Fox well do most of what the Hawkeye etc do on a disco 2? Looking at both sensors they do look old and tired so was going to put two new ones on, I have heard they can be swapped without calibration if it’s done with battery Neg disconnected and on level ground.

The Foxwell does live data far better than the Hawkeye as it has a graphical display and you can record whatever data you want onto its SD card. All you can do with a Hawkeye is have someone watch the numbers and try to write them down as they display. It will also read and change the EKA code, which a Hawkeye will not, and it gets software upgrades so that new models are covered. On the downside, it is a little sluggish compared to the Hawkeye and I have yet to find a way to either disable passive immobilisation or to set the alarm to disable with the key. Not many reasons to spend the extra on the Hawkeye and as far as I can see the only reason to buy a Nanocom is if you want to download maps and load them to a NNN ECU.

Only thing with nanocom is it is quite a lot more expensive than the Foxwell for just a few extra features, suppose its for and against with both. Main thing is get new height sensors fitted, if it doesn’t work right away then I’ll take up to my local garage to be calibrated then look into my own diagnostic reader.

Hi, I was thinking of getting the NT530,could you let me know where I can get one for that price please, the cheapest I've seen it is £199. Cheers.

I bought mine direct from Foxwell for £142 and heard of others paying about £120, but I see they are now charging £199!
If can afford to wait I would keep tabs on their prices as they clearly vary significantly.

So quick update, ordered a OEM height sensor from Lr direct about £40, that came Tuesday morning, due to rain only had chance to fit it today, so battery neg disconnected, jack up wheel off, unbolt sensor and removed plug, one side cracked off but still feels secure on new sensor but got tie wrap over it for good measure.

So the aluminium bush that goes over the bolt in the radius arm was seized on so two mins with blow torch and plusgas and mole grips had that removed, bolted new sensor in, wheel on, jack down and battery reconnected, started engine and compressor started up so I put it into high mode, car went up fine then pressed and down it came as usual and 7mile test run and all seems good. So anyone else doing this job it’s about half hour job, but disconnect battery and that saves recalibration/ visit to garage.
