air suspension fault

hi got a problem with my ranger its on air and drops down at night and in the morning it will raise the back end but not the front, but other times it will do the same and if u turn it off and re start the front goes straight up .some times this does not even work.

any advice welcome thanks
 
Mine drops to the bump stops at night, but not always. When I looked, the airbags are shot, perished to buggery. Should be fitting new ones this weekend, I'm hoping I don't have as much trouble getting the clips out as others have had! I dont know why yours doesn't come up, mine always does eventually, but mine does have a new compressor.

I reckon the airbags should be treated like cam belts and changed at 60K miles or 6 years as a precaution!
 
Mine were on 11 years, no problems with the suspension at all. Horrified when I raised the suspension to high the other week to have a look at my brake pipes. I suggest treating the springs like tyres and check them regularly in high mode after the car has done say 50000 miles. The true extent of wear is not visible in normal height. It's a case of out of sight-out of mind I suppose and I admit I was guilty of it!!!:eek:

I found the clips a total piece of **** to remove. Never mind the "appropriate hooked instrument" crap. Give them laldy with a screwdriver first to break out any rust/corrosion, then remove with a pair of very thin long-nosed pliers. Make sure you've got a proper grip before you pull them - the flat end will lift a bit and you can get under them.

If you get the chance, I would order up a few new ones to have on the side. Cheap as chips anyway.
 
Yeah.....no problems at all....especially if the springs have plastic end caps. Only 5 mins. per spring ha ha,6 minutes if they are the original ally end caps!!!!!!:hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi
