Hi,

I am a new range rover P38 owner (P reg 98). This might be a daft question but I have noticed that the air compressor comes on intermittantly during a drive. The car does not drop overnight (maybe a weene little bit) it seems to be trying to level itself. So the question is, is this normal, how often is it supposed to come on, say I am stopped at lights it will come on then go off then come on again, it will come on during a drive aswell. I am guessing this could be a problem with the hieght sensors or maybe just needs to go on a test book and get the levels re-set.

Is there any easy way to check for a leaks or is it a question of tracing all the pipes to try and find one, if so do you have any tips on this?

I could be worrying about nothing though.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

The fact that your Range rover does not go down overnight, would indicate that you do not have a leak in the system, the occassional activation of the air compressor is normal.

Most of the problems I have had with the P38 and air Suspension have been the pump its self (around about 300 € to replace) you will soon know if you have a problem the level control switch lights all come on and stay on.

More info on this subject can be found at Andy Cunningham site on the web ( for full checks)

Hello, Dealer reset (costs about 40€) You will have to confirm that you have cleared any faults on the system before you get it reset, again use the site I posted in one of the threads, good fault finding details on this site.

Dont get it reset until your happy there is no further faults
