Hi everyone.

I'm running out of ideas as to why my truck is struggling to start and cutting off when idling at traffic lights.

It started 3 weeks ago, I had difficulty starting it in the morning. Went straight for the fuel filter housing and saw a pin hole on it where fuel was spitting out. Right, that's my issue then. I ordered a genuine housing and connectors and plumbed it in. After purging, it started great but as I was waiting at some lights, it died again.

Changed the copper washers on the connectors, as there was a tiny drop of diesel on one andof them and off I went. No change... Still the same issue.

I cannot see any wetness around the connectors. Everything seems dry. The only unusual thing is that one of the quick connectors rotates on the fuel pipe that is attached to, but there's no leaks anywhere.

And yes, I did check that the air bleed valve was in the right place (rear of truck, closest to me), and non return valve (front of truck, furthest from me).

I changed the fuel filter, in case it wasn't sealing properly, but used the same water in fuel sensor. There's no seepage from the sensor, but not sure if this would provoke these symptoms due to air somehow going in through the seal.

Yesterday I purged the system for a good 15 minutes until I couldn't hear any air in the lines. The pump was quiet as it was before this issue started. Next morning, it wouldn't start again...

I'll try and change injector washers and o rings, but I feel this isn't the issue.

I'm struggling to think of anything else...

Any ideas?.. please?..

Hi, If it's starting after you purge it then first culprit would be injector washers/o rings.
Griff

It does start, with a bit of effort, runs fine for a few miles, then it dies when I stop at the lights when idling.

I've got the washer kit on order, hopefully ready for tomorrow. Well soon find out if this is the issue.

Today was just awful. Sat in moderate traffic on my way to work and it stopped 3 times. Purge, start, go, stop...

So frustrating.

Injector seals and washers, go for genuine LR though, and make sure ti remove the fuel from each cylinder before refitting the injectors otherwise you risk bending a Conrod or two
