Air Filter

Hi
i have a series 2a that i have just brought!
i just want to know if the air filter oil bath thing that is standard is nessecery?
im thinking of fitting a normal air filter to it with non of this oily stuff in it.
will this work or do i have to stick to the original one?

i swapped mine for a k&n no problems

chuck the thing away. it prob does more harm than good.
give the poor injun some decent fresh air to breathe,

I use a Dyson vacuum filter - seems to work!

if u change the filter to a less restrictive one (K&N)wont the engine run weak and therefore a bit hotter?? so the carb might need to be tuned or whatever
or am i talking a load of balls

but he dunt wanna filter the vacuum

yes it will make it a bit weaker but with an old series 2a, its a bit and miss if u can tune it up anyways.
basically they either go or dont.

they sold these things to farmers ffs.
