ive just replaced the airfilter on my 98 p38 petrol auto now i cant get the lid to close round it with out any air escaping when the engine is on.

any tips?

i have a clip on the side rear left hand side which is on. i have the 2 front clips on the box (but they dont seem to have closed the lid completly and there are no clips on the rear back and right hand side.

is this correct or am i going to have to bodge something until i can get a new box?

are you sure you got the clips right... they can turn when taken off.. and dont seem to fit if not put back right.

just had another looonng look at it.

the lid seems to fit ok but the front and back side of the main box dont want to fit with the lid. they seem to bow out slightly. there are only 3 clips/fastenings on this one. 1 on the left hand side near the pipe (spring clip style0 and 2 moulded plastic types on the front side. they all work. its i just cant get the lid to form a snug airtight seal around the box.

is there a knack to this or am i missing something?

You have most likely got the wrong air filter. Think there is an early and later one.

bingo. just tried the old one again and it fits perfectly (good old brit part!!). it looks like only the top of the fliter (the seal probably is wrong) would i be able to trim some of the foam off to get it to fit properly. ??

cheer wammers
