I have a 2004 disco TD5 landmark, Can anyone help with my air con issues?
When I put my air con on it just blows the same temp as it is outside the car? The fan works on all settings including auto but no temp change at all.
How can I check the refrigerant level to see if it needs a recharge?
And can I top up the system myself, and if so how?
Or would putting it into the local aircon specialist to put right be the best option? (They're currently advertising a full aircon service for £29.99, does that sound a bit cheap?)
Any help would be great thanks.

Mine is doing exactly the same took it to be regassed and they said I needed a new compressor....problem is i have no idea if they were just fobbing me off as they didn't have a clue...so take comment under advisement

Vac out, oil and regas with uv dye-if it leaks it is easy to find with uv light.

would that contaminate the system?

No the system runs on special oil eg PAG to do it properly the system is vac'd out- if it holds a vacuum then basic pass.

Refill with specified oil and gas.

Most loss is carbon seal on compressor drying out from lack of regular use, oil provides wet seal lube.
If it is regassed with uv dye-if it leaks then it can be spotted easily

cheers :)

my aircon actually blows slightly hotter than ambient so it may be time to have a look at it, before it becomes academic

£29.99 is about right for a regas if you got the single air con . I paid £60 for mine as my D2 has the full 7seater air con .
