Air con pressure switch

Hi
If I replace my air con pressure switch that controls the fans, will I lose the gas from the system or does it have a schrader valve fixing ?

Have just replaced my holey condensor, but the fans wont switch on, the air con works great if I manualy power up the fans.

There are two pressure switches located next to the dryer which is below the front bumper l.h. side. Yes you will need to degass the system. With the cold weather it's unlikely that the fans will switch on anyway.

Hello Steve,

On my older Rover AirCon system the pressure sensing tube between the (Ranco) switch and the high pressure line connected with a schraeder type valve so did not have to degas.

On your more modern system I cant believe they went backwards.

Call your local Aircon Specialist (Yellow Pages) for confirmation.

Regarding the Aircon only working when the fans are on, are you in a hot climate, as in the UK at this time of year, the fans would hardly ever engage unless perhaps, stuck in traffic with the engine overheating and the viscous not working.

Thanks for the replies, turned out it did have a valve so no gas was lost !

I was looking at the two pressure switches next to the dryer,one of which is in the condenser fan circuit and they definately require a degass-see RAVE p. 1198

The one I changed was screwed into the top of the dryer, it has 4 wires going into it, deffo no gas lost, not sure about the other one tho (2 wires)
