RANGE ROVER P38 2.5 DT DSE DIESEL AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR Is making a screeching sound when its off, and disappears when it comes on... so its probably something to do with the clutch, is there a fix for this? or is the only way to fix it is to replace the whole thing? I wouldn't know where to get the parts even

Can that be changed??

Yes it can. You will have to know what you are doing of course. Clutch plate comes off front then you can withdraw the pulley from it's boss. Take the bearing out read the numbers on it get a replacement and reassemble. Not exactly rocket science. :)

Today my Aircon was activated for the first time as we had to source a rare condenser and regas. It blows lovely cold air now. But as the chap has just said, when I activated mine, I had the screech twice on each activation but now all fine. I was wondering whether this was because it has not been run for several years and I scared the crap out of it when I first switched it on for the first time?

Probably rust on the clutch plate, unless it comes back don't worry.

Thank you :) fingers crossed!

So nice to have it all working. My garage were great, they modified the old type condenser to fit by changing all the pipework to the old style. No faults on the system. Lovely!
