Hi, I have recently brought a 2003 L322 TD6. I have had numerous electrical problems with central locking and have been disconnecting and reconnecting the battery often.
Suddenly the air bag light came on and does not go off except for about a second just after start up.
It is now due for its bi-annual inspection and so I need to turn off the light.
I have got a icarsoft LR V1.0 and have tried to switch off the light.
However, when I access the Air Bag section it says "Link Error. Please check:
1. If the vehicle is equipped with the electrical control module
2. If the cable is connected correctly
3. If the key is Ignition ON

The reader is correctly connected and the ignition is on.

Any ideas where I go from here

Hi, How do I go about checking the battery disconnect plug. I have checked that it is securely fastened but how would I check the actual function of the BDU

Disconnect battery leave for 15 mins, unplug bdu spray pins with switch cleaner (not wd 40) reconnect bdu and with a bit of luck all will be well.

Tried that, with no success.
As the diagnostic tool cannot read the airbag ECU I would think that the problem is on the CAN bus rather than on the airbag components.
Any thoughts?

We are using a dedicated reader for Jaguar Land Rover vehicles (iCarsoft LR V1.0). As stated before it is not seeing the ECM which means that we cannot even get any fault codes to point us in the right direction.

I've got the same icarsoft lr v1.0 and mine reads the airbag module fine and can show/erase error codes and view the live data.

You need to update the software on your code reader to the latest version, I remember I had some modules that would not read before I updated it. Go to the icarsoft website for the update, good luck

Have you checked there is a 12v feed to the ecu and earth. Normally if the ecu is not present it has no power.
Internal error can also be a damaged unit. ;)
