...from a (hopefully) soon-to-be second time around Defender owner. Joined your excellent forum in the expectation of picking up loads of useful advice. Oh and if anyone's got low mileage '05 90 XS SW in Bonatti Grey they're looking to change please let me know!

Hi Emitime,

The XS is the 'luxury' model, with part leather heated seats, heated front screen, CD player, electric windows etc. It is easily recognised by the silver front grille (rather than black) and full length side step.

Probably a bit 'lush' for the purists, but hey.

That looks a very nice car. I don't think the XS bits are strictly necessary and I prefer the black grille in any case.

As a matter of interest where did you find it and what sort of price?

It was second hand from an independent dealer in Wisbech, Cambs. I think I paid the going rate, which was much more than I'd planned to spend. In other words I went looking for a £5000 hard top TDi and was seduced by the likelihood of lower maintenance and increased reliability by going for a 5 year old car. Then I justified the increased comfort of the SW and the paintwork is perfect and the tires are original and it's never been off-road etc, etc. Next thing I knew all my savings had gone!
