Hi
I've got a RR V8 3.5 on carbs fitted in my defender. I've got an electric oil pressure gauge for it. Problem is that once I add the adapter plate 30mm and Oil pressure switch, its going to hit the steering pump. There aint a lot of space. I notice that there are 2 'other' bolts on the oil pump. I guess one is the release valve, but is the one on the bottom for an oil temp gauge ?
If so can I tap off there ?
Piccys might make it easier to understand what I'm blathering on about.

Yes that bolt you show on the top pic if a plug thats for a pressure sender as the old 2 door RRC were fitted with oil press guages. im trying to do the same as you but ive found that there is a standard size of thread on the senders you get with the gauge so you need to buy the adaptor T peice which seem to fetch silly money.

I fitted an adapter tee for a mechanical guage to my 3.9 a while ago and it went on ok, i guess the 3.5 must have a different oil pump housing as on mine the oil pressure switch was twisted slightly further forward and i had to move the radiator hose slightly to stop it rubbing on the adapter. i think you may well be able to use the other 'smaller' of the 2 threads on the housing, the larger one being the oil pressure relief valve.

Hey rusty, can I have some more details and pics on fitting it for the 3.9 as I wouldnt mind a guage for temp and pressure.

Can you get electric ones rather than running hoses?

Thanks
