I bought a new one from ebay, seemed just cheap enough not to be rubbish but after 2 months it was shagged...and the ebay shop had vanished, how odd!! I buy 2nd hand one's now. Search for jag/tvr/marcos one's too they all used the rover v8 and/or 14cux

I had the same problem with a 'fleabay' aftermarket unit for my 97 (NAS) Disco - it unceremoniously packed it in after two months and I got no reply on the alleged 'warranty' inquiry - so I went for a 'preowned' unit from a wreckers and it has worked wonderfully for a couple of years now. In my case I made certain the 'hotwire' mesh wasa pristine - if that's in good shape - its always a good sign that the intake has not seen a lot of harm. I am not as familiar with the 96 AFM unit but I am betting the same principles apply: i.e., go to a good wreckers and check out the unit you want carefully.
