Quick one and probably really obvious but.....

When I'm driving along I can hear the air compressor whirring away quite a lot of the time. This doesn't seem normal? My thinking is that the shocks are constantly leaking so the air compressor is always having to top them up?

If you left the car switched off with a heavy load in the back then would the car sag (If the shocks were leaking), would it stay on the setting it was parked on, or would it be topped up by the air compressor (Which would eventually wear the battery down)?

Thanks for all the help guys. Spot the "new boy in school" with all the questions!!

Once the hight is set thats what it should stay at when switched off. If yours is dropping at the rear or front then you have a leak somewhere. They should self level when switched off after opening or closing a door but only to the level of the lowest sensor and stay perfectly level regardless of load. The compressor running frequently does point to a air leak somewhere. It is best to try and catch it before the ECU realises something is up and hard faults, which will mean a trip to the dealer .....

Your compressor might be tired and thats why its running all the time.

The vehicle will drop a bit when you turn it off, it will try to level the suspension and does this by opening the exhaust valves, it wont run the compressor while the engine is off for obvious reasons, if the car is dropping very low, especially on one corner then you have a leak.
