I am looking at buying a Discovery TD5 but getting a little confused as to the spec on various models .
Im only looking at a having a 2000-2002 model , but can anyone tell me is there any real difference between the ES, GS and XS .

Pink! Pink! No they come in macho colours Green and Blue And different shades of Mud!

I have a Red GS and it has lots of twidely bits! ACE, Hill decent control, Cruise Control, Self leveling suspension, Twin sun roofs, Seven seats, 10 disk cd,(i don't think thats standard), and many more! non of which are pink!
Cloth interior though!
i cant really comment on the other models but i assume the XS is the dogs danglies one and the ES the more basic one!

If you like the feel of leather pressed against your skin you may need to look at the XS!

I think if you look for one in riocha red metallic, they look pink if you catch the light just right! I think that's right but i stand to be corrected!

Your probably right! although my gs has at least 6 cup holders! 2 in front dash 2 in rear seat centre arm rest and 2 for the rear fold down seats in the side panels! oh and if you count the ones in the underside of the cubby box lid that's 8 though there not really cup holders more indents in the plastic!!

your all just posh bastids, get a 200 and get loads of shelves ter put yer brew on!! cup holder are fer pussies who are scared of a stain on there pants!!

Thank you boys for your replies . I am going to have a look at a couple of ES models hopefully. Although my other half wants me to have a Freelander(spit) , only because he works for them and can get a good deal! I must say I am pretty excited about all of those cup holders though .
Raz my 2 friends have a 110 apiece and I must say they are a beast of a drive . :D

I have the XS model with climate, half leather, 6 disc cd side steps and newly fitted 18" hurricanes. Looks very nice if i may say so myself. Are you looking to buy or part exchange?? i'm just wondering whether to sell mine as i have my eye on another winter project!

Dont geta freelander i have had one inbtween discoverys and there very unreliable mine cost me over 2 grand in repairs in 14 months of ownership and when i got rid it wanted another grand spending on it
things like sunroof 500 quid
viscus cupling 400 quid
3 cylinder head gaskets yes 3 all done under warranty
window motors
to name a few things

It's mostly just cosmetic stuff -it's still a Landy. I'd suggest the main things to look at would be auto/manual, aircon/no aircon, 5 seats/7 seats, air suspension/coils, old /new front end, ACE/non ACE, and how much rust. Oh, and if it doesn't have sun roofs that would be a huge plus, but I suspect they've all got them. Good luck and here's wishing you hours of fun!:)

Well, my Disco TD5 is a seven seater minus the two back seats, ACE, no aircon (what for?) traction control, air suspension, and NO SUNROOFS!

So it doesn't leak down from the roof .....

If it had been a sunroof car I wouldn't have bought it. They are a lot of grief only to be able to see and hear more of the rain most of the time!

Brother in laws got a 2000 all singing and dancing petrol auto. It,s been at the menders more than on the road. Its in now for new head gaskets.:(

I've got a basic 96 deisel 300 and have not needed to open the bonnet yet.:D

P. S. where is the bonnet catch?

Aircon IS good or clearing the screen on winter mornings. FA use otherwise - I've happily driven around Turkey and Romania in August without it and it doesn't come MUCH hotter than that within reasonable driving distance of London.

Sunroofs - you missed out the bit about FEELING more of the rain, which is what the things seem to have been designed for. Do you want to sell the two rear seats? It's the one thing I miss on this car (must have too many friends). (Who am I kidding, but it would be useful for work.):)
