Advice please

Hi,
I have just had MOT failure on my 02 disco and the following work was done, swivel hub/ stub axle assembly & ball joint and rear droplinks. On picking it up, the tcl was on and it would not drive without juddering to halt. The garage have plugged in it and at this stage have no idea what is up. I know it was fine when I dropped it off for MOT, my question is, could any of the work done, be responsible for the issues now. Apologies but I am not a seasoned Landy mechanics expert, I just have the landy for towing my horse trailer. Appreciate any opinions. Sam

For a start we need a bit more information about the vehicle. i.e. is it automatic? Is it a facelift model? EU2 (serial number prefixes 10p to 14p, or EU3, 15p to 19p for the engine.)
Without looking into it I would say immediately it is up to the garage that did the work to correct any faults they may have, inadvertently or not, caused.
Do not know what you mean by the tcl light. so further explanation or maybe a photo would be good. Traction control?
Also a bit more info on "judders to a halt".
If the garage have "plugged it in" it will not be enough unless they have a dedicated LR type diagnostic. But if it seriously will not drive then the problem seems to be to do with the gearbox, transfer, box, propshafts or axles, maybe one of the two of the latter.
BUT these cars rely hugely on their on board computers and there are people on here who are hugely knowledgeable on this who will doubtless join in soon. and they know more about it than I do.

I am not a Disco-Diva, but the "judders" and TCL makes me think the Traction control is operating on braking because it thinks a wheel is slipping/no traction.
If wheels/swivels/axles have been messed with, has an ABS sensor been disconnected/dislodged/broken that means a wheel appears (to the ABS/TC system) to be not spinning so all the others start pulsing?

Like said, a bit more accuracy would certainly help, especially since the components you describe are more relevant to earlier LR models. If you have a D2, you should be looking at a CV joint, a wheel hub assembly, a steering knuckle and 2 ball joints for each front wheel. The problem could simply be case of installing a wheel hub with the wrong exciter ring (needs to have 60 teeth but cheap ones can have less). So what were the problems reported by the MOT ?

+1 find out what hub they fitted as the cheap ones can be junk with incorrect number of teeth. If one side is done and the hub is not reading right info to the wheel speed sensor, your TC system will think one wheel is travelling faster and apply braking to the faster wheel. The TC light shows when this is happening and this sounds like your juddering effect. so id hazard a guess the hub is not up to spec and the garage is therefore at fault. Get them to investigate the hub and if its a cheapo ,fit an oem hub or genuine if you can afford it.
