Hi Everyone,

I am new to the forum, I have a two land rovers and am looking to buy a third and am viewing this evening but I need to get advice on the engine. In the advert it says it is a 200tdi. But the picture looks different from other 200tdi engines I have seen. I don’t want to drive a long and find out it’s a N/A engine. Car checker says it’s DT so is this diesel turbo engine pre 200tdi. If so how does it compare to a 200tdi. I have a 200tdi in my series 3 and a 300tdi in my disco 1. Thanks

Hi and welcome!

Make sure you know what each engine looks like. A 2.5 turbo diesel looks considerably different to a 200Tdi. Ask the owner for the engine number so that you can look it up.

It is possible that it’s had an engine change so won’t show as it left the factory. The engine number is the best way to check without seeing it.

Let us know how you get on.

200Tdi is much better. If it’s a TD, it’s much lower performance and suffered from reliability issues.

It’s a 200Tdi. Looks like a disco conversion from the picture.

Get the seller to give you the engine number to confirm.

That photo is of a discovery 200tdi engine, you can see the low mounted turbo

What’s the one in your series look like?
Mine just looks a little different on the top, the cover bit. I don’t know anything about engines. This is my series 3 200 tdi
