Whats the best way to remove the spigot bearing from the crankshaft???

(can someone switch on the JM bat signal please??)

Fill the hole with grease then push or tap with a hammer a tight fitting bolt into the centre- the grease will push out the bearing from behind.

I've put the gearbox on, on both my 90 and discovery, on my own. The disco was working on a barn floor, on my back underneath.

Just get on with it ya phoofter:rolleyes:

Come an give me a hand then bumboy!

Have you got access from inside?

If so, suspend the gearbox on a bit of string, put the string round your shoulders and lift to align.

When it's near, and you have everything lined up shake your shoulders like fck whilst pushing forward and it should go in!

I've changed quite a number in my time, and found that a bit of brute force can overcome!

Up the blue, you have to make do with what's available!

Does anyone have a link to a "how to fit a 300tdi engine"??
I have been searching the net for hours and can't find anything??

Can't carry on with the engine installation til monday as the garage is closed til then....

Well ........read as much about engine installations as i could find over the weekend - early start again in the morning. Any other tips on getting the engine and gearbox lined up ???

Cheers

Once your sure as eggs everything is lined up and no obstruction it is usually just a case of rocking/shaking till she goes! and she will!

Yep going to change the spigot bush in the crankshaft and put the clutch back on and give it another go.............

Think i might have had the gearbox too high last time - we'll see tomorrow ..............

UPDATE: Got to the garage this morning at 10 and decided to crack on with trying to get the engine fitted............... 10 minutes later it was in :D - got a few nuts and bolts done up and checked the feel of the new clutch - all good :D (had a celebratory coffee :) ) got on with refitting the engine mounts and oil cooler pipes........ put 6.8ltrs of 10w40 into the engine and after checking the sump plug was back in :D

Thought i'd check for oil pressure and tried the ignition key................ it started after 3 seconds of cranking :D let it run for 5 seconds until the oil pressure light went out and then stopped it :D carried on fitting everything else that the engine needs and called it a day at 7pm :)

Back in the morning to fill and bleed the coolant and take it for a spin :)
