Hands up - I've been a bit of a dummy and sheared the head off the passenger side bolt which is attached to the swivel housing - this of course limits the amount of lock on one side. As would be expected when things go wrong, it has sheared flush with the entry hole so that creates a couple of questions which hopefully someone can help me with.

1. Based on the fact that the reason for wanting to adjust the bolt length was that on full lock there is a very slight tyre rub on both of the longitudinal bars (sorry I don't know what they are called). It's not alarming but I thought I would get rid of it.

As this bolt was not doing its job because its length was too short, is there any danger or risk to the vehicle in not putting things right when I'm using it? I don't want to remove the swivel housing to drill it out at this moment in time.

2. The bolt passes through and is secured by what looks like an anchor nut with an angled piece of metal strip. Is the nut or the strip welded to the swivel housing? If it isn't, I'm thinking of carefully destructing the nut to give me a length of bolt shaft to work on to try and wind it out of its thread.

3. Is the bolt and "anchor nut" available to buy through after market suppliers or is it only obtainable through Land Rover?

radius arms and no it wont hurt driving as such as your not likely to put it in full lock at speed, you will just rub the inner edge of tyre eventually , undo the nut ,it holds mud shield as well as locking the stop bolt , mudsheilds are often best discarded anyhow , bolt is just a 12m set screw

Thanks for the information. I can now see that the metal strip which I referred to is actually what was left behind when the mud shields were removed by a garage who did some work for me. Obviously they must have cut through a flange which is part of the shield and what I am seeing is what was left behind. I've Googled the shield and can quite clearly see from a picture what's what - I thought it was some sort of locking device which was a bit rusty so I couldn't work out exactly if the nut was removable.

Thanks again
