I had a 200TDi 130 for years and were fine on motorways and long journeys. Could get the turbo whistling just fine. I still miss it

My to do list has grown this week to........rear wiper intermittent is now when it can be ars3d to move, drivers door handle snapped cable, and I think it's been reading our Henryb's posts cos it's now telling me to check the brake pads, and on the last day of my 2 weeks holiday an orl

Stay away from that Ford v6 diesel unit as well. Lovely when it is working; not so good when the crank snaps. Some russian guy did a technical paper on the root cause analysis. The link is on here somewhere.

Thanks for the advice! Especially the monthly expense figure. That's really helpful. I'm sure next year I'd spring for a RR but for a load lugger with weekly motorway trips, I'll happily settle for some lemonade
The figure I gave is so I get a receipt from the local specialist - my car had 20 years of bills and service history, and still needed £1700 spent to get it through its MOT!
If you do your own work, you can easily halve that figure!

Ok guys. I’ve been convinced (by yourselves and also further research) that the Range Rover proper is the way to go.
Now I just need to decide on which engine to go for. I’m looking to spend at a most £10k. I’ll be doing town and motorway trips in equal measure and will definitely be going off-road now and then for my building project. I assume for my budget, a 2009/2010 is the newest model I’d be able to get.
Any passionate suggestions / advice as to which engine is best for a balance of power, economy and reliability?
PS: I’m happy to tackle some basic spannering with the help of YouTube. Nothing too complex though - I’d rely on a garage for that.

Don’t you think that’s a bit greedy to get 38 of them
.@Peshy if you could stretch to the 2011 TDV8 with the 8 speed. I don’t know what they go for now, So you would have to be careful you didn’t get a neglected one
.Oh and get a trailer so you don’t start chucking **** in the back, it will be a good workhorse

If your total budget is £10k, spend £8k , and put £2k aside . This is for whatever the previous owner got rid of it for/ bits and bobs that ' aren't quite right' . Those bits n bobs soon add up

A 2011 V8 model should be doable. What makes you prefer the 2011 model? Hahaha I’ll be sure to note the trailer advice. That’s actually a really good idea for lugging things around on-site and not damaging the interior.

Hey all. Just wanted to say a great big thanks to everyone for their advice. Really appreciate it. I’m waiting for delivery of a 2012 RR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8. Should arrive this evening and then I plan to drive up and down a few road humps and perhaps Box Hill
